Love
Love is supposed to be unconditional. To love someone means that you will eccept the person you love for who they are. Linda was loved unconditional by a free black man. She loved him so much that she asked her master if she could live with him so she could be with him more. Linda's master didn't like that idea, so much that he slapped her. He told her that she would be much better off living with him. There are now many restrictions placed on Linda, now that she can't be with the free black man. Linda is afraid of loving anyone because she doesn't want to be shut down again.

Love is supposed to be unconditional but not for a slave. Slaves had no rights, only privileges given to them by their slave-owners. I was surprised when i read about what love was like for Linda. I would have expected that at the very least slave owners would allow them to love someone of their choice.
