last chapter- huck finn

What do you make of the last chapter? Is this a happy ending for Huck and Jim?
When Tom was shot in the leg, Jim had the chance to run away and become a free man. Jim chose to stay back with Tom as opposed to becoming a free man. This shows that Jim really cared for Tom and didn't want Tom to suffer. Jim got respect from the white men when they heard that a black man was being nice and called a doctor to save Tom from dying from the gunshot wound. The only thing that made things not extremely happy was the change in plan that Tom created. Things would have been a lot easier if they would have stuck with their original plan. Everyone had a happy ending except for Huck. He was struggling with the fact of being civilized. Overall a majority of the characters had a happy ending. I think the point of this book is trying to tell us that blacks should be treated the same as everyone else. We see this when the white people are impressed by Jim's actions towards helping Tom with his leg. I believe that the most important person that needed a happy ending, received a happy ending, Jim.
