Chapters 14-17
In Chapters 14 through 17 of The Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, we discover that Linda had a another baby. He master threatens her to sell the new baby. Linda and her baby are taken to a church because Linda's grandmother insists on having the baby christened. Even though Linda new that Dr. Flint wouldn't approve, she felt "subdued in spirit". They left the church with a chain around the baby's neck. Linda did not like the idea of a chain around the baby's neck because she didn't want the baby to go through slavery or even think about it. I agree with this comparison because I understand that it is hard for Linda to even imagine slavery for her baby.

There is more to say here - how does the gold chain represent slavery. 1
