Why does Huck want to help the men on the wreck? What does this show us about him?
Jim and Huck both found a sailboat on the river. I don't think that ever would have thought that there would have been anyone on the boat. But all of the sudden they hear noices coming from inside the boat. Huck wants to save the men on the boat by keeping the robbers away from getting away with everything. Huck ran back and told Jim and even though Jim didn't want to go, they both went to save the men. I think Huck does this to show that he is a nice person and likes to help people. Huck also doesn't want the people on the boat to die. He would rather than die from something else other than something that you couldn't control. This chapter we see how Huck likes to help people and how nice of a guy he is. I think Huck does this not only to help people because he receives joy by doing so, but to show us as readers that he is not a bad guy.
